Game Setting Research
The idea of an apocalypse can be portrayed in many different ways. Whether that is by a nuclear bomb or alien attack the turnout is usually focused on survival. Therefore, if it is by a nuclear missile it is some form of wasteland. If it is by a wasteland, the colours are extremely dull. They usually involve different shades of brown and yellow to show a decayed world. Fog may also cover the world to show that the radioactive chemicals are still in the atmosphere, this has also been used as an element in gameplay in games such as Fallout and Metro: 2033. If there are any buildings in this setting, they are either before or after the nuclear strike. If they are before then they are usually half destroyed with some form of bandits or squatters inside. However the post nuclear strike buildings are small shacks that are made out of whatever the creators can find, much like modern day favela's. A zombie apocalypse setting is also similar to this.
